about

These are two tracks which I composed for the german documentary ‚Fungi Monster / Beziehungsweisen‘, which focuses on the intergenerational trauma in the vietnamese diaspora through the story of a fascinating vietnamese-german woman.
My productions touch the melancholic side of the emotional spectrum but also mirror a little piece of hope inside.

A few details about the documentary - Synopsis:
Fungi photographs, writes poetry and trains in the MMA professional league. Her freedom contrasts with the life of her mother, who works in her own shop in Saxony-Anhalt in the east of Germany. Despite their differences, they invite each other into the other‘s world. What is Fungi looking for when she keeps coming back to the same places although they are painful? The film tells of Fungi‘s searching eyes for tender beauty and the question of what belonging and family are.

Ad Astra

I have seen my stars
at night they curved over my eyelids,
scattering the days down upon me,
to turn me in their orbits.

All I needed was a little time.
My hands had not yet reached so far
that I was able to grasp, to comprehend,
what I was now daring and then not even hoping for.

I grew - from the inside out
could only see before I began to walk
saw before me when the eyes covered themselves with darkness
dots that sparkled reached out to me

All I needed was a little time.
In that time I freed myself from the burden of hatred
enriched with kindness, relieved trust
Heart can only do what heart really longs for

I have seen myself in the stars
see pain fade with the years
Peace draws course, allows to understand
I myself must say it:
Life is beautiful.
